The original tattoo is still there which will be incorporated into a new tattoo design, totally covering the old original. This is not quite the same as just doing a new tattoo as various factors come into play.
There are on occassions, limitations to covering-up an old tattoo, but also know there are many ways to cover-up a tattoo and area with a beautiful new design and piece of unique body art once again.
As you know a tattoo is forever, and suddenly your new flame Ramone or Clarisa you have tattooed on your arm is now not your new flame, but someone elses!!
This is an easier process these days to overcome and to be able to cover-up the entire name for you. Laser surgery to remove or fade a tattoo is also a very good option which is been done more and more.
As you will see here, the original tattoo I have traced and used as a template size to design from. This allows me to use it to overlay my designs and any new designs making it easier to incorporate the actual old tattoo into the new design.
This is the finished cover-up of the top half of the tattoo, showing a Monarch Butterfly in full color. The black of the original will still be visable which you will see I have designed into the new tattoo.
Any dark color ink remains in the dermis of the skin, as do all other colors, and adding to this will mix the dark color with the new color, so getting a lighter color from a darker color is not possible, but changing the color to another darker color is achievable.
You will see the capital letters spelling KIDS has been covered-up with the new tattoo of two purple roses. There is a faint outline of the black of the letters, but only the person with the cover-up tattoo will ever know this.
You will struggle to ever know underneath the two purple roses are still the letters KIDS tattooed in solid dark colors.
Working with the client, a Monarch Butterfly and a Purple Rose were the final tattoo's chosen, and as you see weeks later, the tattoo's are healed and the client is well pleased to display them now when ever she can.
